Ingredients
- 1 tbs unsalted butter
- 2 tbs all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 6 oz bourbon
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp fresh black pepper
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
Directions
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes. Slowly add the milk and bourbon, whisking constantly until smooth. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. Remove from the heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, pepper, and nutmeg. Serve with pretzels or chips.
